Can I pick up my security badge in advance?

Yes. As of Thursday 9 October 10 a.m. it will be possible to pick up your security badge at the Palais des Nations in Geneva (main entrance, Pregny Gate). You are strongly advised to pick up your badge in advance to avoid waiting lines on the opening days, Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 October. Pre-event badge pick up is open on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 October from 10a.m.-4p.m. and on Sunday 12 from 1p.m.-8p.m.. On Monday the pick-up desk will be open as of 10a.m.. Please note that only the Permanent Mission can collect the badges for other people or delegations in advance and only with the Note Verbale listing the members of the delegation.

Do I need to pay?

No, there are no fees for this United Nations event. But registration is required.

I registered online, does this mean I am confirmed for participation?

No. Space is limited for this event and all requests are being screened. Depending on the screening you will receive an official confirmation, rejection or request for additional information by email. In case you have any further questions about your registration, please mail to: wif@unctad.org (subject: My registration). Note: please check your SPAM folder before contacting us!

I registered online but did not receive an official confirmation. What do I need to do?

Space is limited for this event and all requests are being screened. Depending on the screening a final confirmation, rejection or request for additional information will be sent by email between one and two weeks after online registration. In case you have any further questions about your registration, please mail to: wif@unctad.org (subject: My registration). Note: please check your SPAM folder before contacting us!

I am a correspondent, do I need media accreditation to cover this event?

Correspondents wishing to cover United Nations activities at the UN Office at Geneva (UNOG) must be accredited by the Information Service. Please click here for more information on Accreditation Requirements.

Do I need a visa?

You may require visas to enter and remain in Switzerland for the duration of the Forum. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality. Please contact your local Swiss Embassy to make the necessary arrangements to obtain an entry visa to Switzerland as early as possible. Detailed information about visa procedures can be found here.

Does UNCTAD offer financial support for participants?

No, we are not in the position to provide any kind of financial support for participants. Participants of the World Investment Forum need to cover all costs e.g. travel, visas, accommodation and meals associated with their attendance.

Where do I stay?

The World Investment Forum has secured a number of rooms with specially negotiated rates for the Forum’s participants. See a list of recommended hotels in Geneva and surrounding. We advise you to make travel and accommodation arrangements as soon as possible since flight rates may rise closer to the event and hotels can be very full during this period.

What is the programme?

Who is participating?

The World Investment Forum is expected to gather more than 2,000 participants from the global investment community. These include Heads of State and Government, ministers, executives of global companies and stock exchanges, sovereign wealth fund managers, investment treaty negotiators, heads of investment promotion agencies, international investment location experts, leaders of international organizations, civil society and eminent scholars.
